Verify us before you give — please
You should never donate to an organization you haven’t checked. Veterans Opportunity Program Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3); our EIN is 47-3763471. Donate Property InsteadDonation questions
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Veterans Opportunity Program Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 47-3763471. Cash donations are deductible to the full extent the law allows, and you receive a tax receipt by email automatically. You can verify our status in the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search or on our Candid profile before you give — we encourage it.
Can I give monthly?
Yes. On the donation form, choose the "Monthly" option before you enter your amount. Monthly gifts are what let a small nonprofit plan ahead, and you can change or cancel anytime.
Does 100% of my donation reach the mission?
Through our main donation form, yes. We use Zeffy, a fee-free donation platform, so no platform fee or card fee is taken out of your gift. Zeffy funds itself through an optional, separate tip that donors may choose to add for Zeffy — it is never required and does not come out of your donation to us. If you choose the PayPal option instead, PayPal applies its discounted charity rate of 1.99% + $0.49, so a $100 gift delivers about $97.52 — the main form remains the way to make every cent count.
Can I donate with PayPal or Venmo?
Yes. We are a PayPal confirmed charity, so you can give with the "Donate with PayPal" button above. Inside PayPal checkout, eligible U.S. donors will also see Venmo as a payment method. PayPal deducts its discounted charity rate (1.99% + $0.49) before the funds reach us; our main Zeffy form charges no fees at all.
Where does the money actually go?
Three places: placing donated homes with veterans, jump-start funding for veterans disability sports like wheelchair basketball, and our PTSD decompression retreat. Donations also keep our free VA benefits guides — used by nearly 1,000 veterans and families a month — online, accurate, and ad-free.
Can I give through my donor-advised fund (DAF)?
Yes. If you have a donor-advised fund at Fidelity Charitable, Schwab (DAFgiving360), or BNY Mellon, use the "Give from your donor-advised fund" option above. Pick your provider, and you will be taken to your account to recommend a grant to us — it comes to Veterans Opportunity Program Inc., EIN 47-3763471. Your sponsor issues the grant by check or electronic transfer, so nothing is deducted on our end.
Can I donate something other than money?
Absolutely — property gifts are often the most valuable ones we receive. Land, houses, and vehicles can all be donated for a fair-market-value tax deduction. Start on our donate property page and we will review it free within one business day.
